Equifax agreed to pay a $30.5 million class-action suit settlement with financial institutions over the credit reporting firm's 2017 data breach, Reuters reports. The proposed settlement calls for Equifax to create a $5.5 million fund for affected institutions, while the remaining $25 million will be dedicated to improving the company's data security tools and practices over the next two years. Meanwhile, Lurie Children's Hospital of Chicago is being sued by a pediatric patient's mother over claims related to a pair of data breaches.
