The European Data Protection Board determined in an opinion the competence for a lead supervisory authority to act can be switched to another supervisory authority in the event of a documented change related to a main or single establishment. The EDPB’s opinion was in response to requests from the French and Swedish data protection authorities, which asked the board to examine the competence of an authority when an establishment is relocated to another European Economic Area country or ceases to exist in an EEA territory. Meanwhile, EDPS Assistant Supervisor Wojciech Wiewiórowski writes about the potential data protection and privacy implications of a world where human bodies are enhanced with digital technologies, while the EDPB adopted “Guidelines on Video Surveillance” during its 12th plenary session.
