Canadian Radio-television and Telecommunications Commission Chief Compliance and Enforcement Officer Steven Harroun fined Scott William Brewer $75,000 for violations of Canada's Anti-Spam Legislation. Brewer allegedly sent more than 670,000 marketing emails without consent between December 2015 and May 2018. "Obtaining consent is a fundamental principle of (CASL)," Harroun said. "The penalty issued today demonstrates that individuals are just as accountable as businesses and must respect this principle."
