The FBI and Apple aren’t the only entities facing off about encryption, National Journal reports. The House Judiciary Committee and the Energy and Commerce Committee have formed a working group on the issue. That’s despite Rep. Michael McCaul, R-Texas, and Sen. Mark Warner’s, D-Va., proposed bill that would create a separate commission comprising outside experts. But McCaul’s bill was sent to other Congressional committees — “leaving him with little control over its fate,” the report states. However, McCaul said the two groups aren’t mutually exclusive. “It may be this working group could actually have good recommendations that the commission I have proposed would take into account.”
