Euractiv reports the European Commission drafted logistics for an EU Digital Identity for the use of public and private services across the bloc. The commission's outline said a universal electronic identification system would "provide people with control over their online identity and data as well as to enable access to public, private, and cross-border digital services," adding the system would be "trusted and secure." The scheme will be pitched at the European Council summit with hopes of rolling it out by mid-2021.
