Several technology companies, including Alibaba and Tencent, submitted details about the use of algorithms in their products to the Cyberspace Administration of China, Reuters reports. The effort on the part of the tech companies was to comply with the CAC's regulations on the widespread use of algorithmic recommendation technology. Recently, China’s state media reportedly accused internet platforms of utilizing algorithms that were invasive of users’ privacy.
