The European Round Table of Industrialists, which consists of 55 CEOs and other organizational leads, set out a proposal to modernize EU competition rules, EURACTIV reports. The proposal would update antitrust rules to help the EU compete with the U.S. and China in the digital economy. One way would be to use data in order to assist in the advancement of research in strategic areas and assess mergers and acquisitions. The ERT did not support a proposal from France and Germany to allow EU state officials to review and question antitrust rulings.
