Canada has released its new cybersecurity strategy, CBC News reports. The highlights of the strategy include an emphasis on encryption, especially as quantum computing continues to advance. The strategy also includes a focus on national security and fighting back against cybercrime, an area where encryption plays a big role. "This is a very active, ongoing discussion," Public Safety Minister Ralph Goodale said. "Obviously, encryption is hugely valuable to protect people's personal and private information. At the same time there are important questions about law enforcement and national security being able to properly conduct investigations and pursue potential criminal activity, or pursue potential threats to national security."
