In response to recent cyberattacks at local school districts, California State Assembly member Rudy Salas has introduced legislation that would increase cybersecurity protocols at schools, The Sentinel reports. By accessing school systems, hackers can steal personal information of students, teachers and families, said Kierk Sanderlin, head of engineering for cybersecurity firm Check Point. The proposed bill would address a lack of coordinated response to incidents between the state and local school districts and ensure students’ private information is protected.
