The Brazilian Institute for Consumer Protection, Instituto Brasileiro de Defesa do Consumidor, called on government agencies, including Brazil's data protection authority, the Autoridade Nacional de Proteção de Dados, to probe WhatsApp over its privacy updates, ZDNet reports. Idec wants the ANPD and other agencies to jointly require and obtain "clear answers" regarding WhatsApp's changes and ensure "the administrative procedures implemented respect the data protection rights of Brazilians."
