The European Commission announced via action plan a move to amend the Anti Money Laundering Directive in an effort to reign in the financial support of terrorists, CryptoCoinsNews reports. The updates would require European “wallet providers” to provide their identities, the report states. The EC acknowledged that “further steps to close off the options for terrorist financing may also touch on the lives and the economic activity of citizens and companies throughout the Union,” but that it would “take into account the balance between the need to increase security and the need to protect fundamental rights including data protection, and economic freedoms,” the action plan stated.
