The Legislative Assembly of Alberta introduced "Bill 46: Health Statutes Amendment Act, 2020" to amend several pieces of health care legislation within the province, including the Health Information Act. The amendments allow for broader use of health information and increased penalties for the misuse of information. Alberta Information and Privacy Commissioner Jill Clayton said she was not consulted on the changes to the Health Information Act and plans to review the amendments.
