A coalition of more than 90 advocacy groups asked Facebook to cancel its plans to launch a children's version of Instagram, MediaPost reports. The groups argue the alternative version of Instagram will subject children to serious risks while offering few benefits for families. “The Instagram business model, which relies on maximizing engagement and monetizing sensitive personal information, is incongruent with children’s right to privacy and their need for a wide array of offline activities and face-to-face interactions,” the coalition wrote in a letter to Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg.
