In anticipation of Virginia’s Consumer Data Protection Act taking effect Jan. 1, 2023, meetings of the Virginia Consumer Data Protection Working Group can provide insight into potential amendments anticipated prior to implementation. IAPP Legal Extern Seth Azubuike offers a look at topics discussed during the working group’s meetings — including implementation of enforcement provisions and proposed increased protections for children — and its final report submitted Nov. 1. The group’s recommendations are expected to be presented during the upcoming legislative session.
