The scientists "have created a system that uses artificial intelligence to recognise specific types of behaviour, such as someone holding a gun," the report states, prompting privacy advocates to warn it might be used for other purposes--such as targeting protesters. The research is part of the ADDPRIV project, which is aimed at creating surveillance that takes privacy concerns into account, the report states, noting the new system would include "the automatic deletion of surplus video data."
