Privacy advocates are voicing concerns as camera networks are installed for the upcoming Olympic Games in Vancouver and Whistler. More than 900 cameras have been installed at Olympic venues and an additional 100 cameras have been installed on Vancouver streets, the Winnipeg Free Press reports. Officials have promised that any recorded data will be kept for a limited time unless it is needed as criminal evidence, and Canada's privacy commissioner has been assured the camera network will come down after the games. "The key will be to integrate privacy and security," the assistant privacy commissioner said in the OPC's Privacy Perspectives newsletter. "These two concepts are not mutually exclusive."
