The U.S. Government Accountability Office published a report titled “Artificial Intelligence in Health Care.” The report discusses current and emerging AI tools used to augment patient care and their benefits, like predicting health trajectories and recommending treatments, as well as challenges including transparency, bias and data access. To enhance benefits and mitigate challenges, GAO developed six policy options, including collaboration between developers and health care providers, creating high-quality data access mechanisms, and establishing best practices for development, implementation and use of the technologies.
