Zoom intends to strengthen encryption for video calls for paying clients but not free customer accounts, Reuters reports. Zoom Security Consultant Alex Stamos said it is unclear which user accounts will qualify for the more secure video meetings, adding the current plan is for paid customers, “plus enterprise accounts where the company knows who they are.” Privacy advocates had mixed reactions, some hoping the company would offer encryption more widely, while others said this is a reasonable compromise.
