In an episode of the CxOTalk series, World Health Organization Chief Information Officer Bernardo Mariano talked about the risks and opportunities of big data in health care, data ownership and related ethical considerations, ZDNet reports. Mariano said the WHO “is key to ensuring that we bring about international regulation on health data,” adding “regulation is key.” The WHO will be bringing a global digital health strategy to its member states for approval in May. “We want to strike that balance to ensure that privacy, ethical consideration is addressed to allow data sharing or sharing of data for global good to deliver those positive health outcomes,” he said.
