The French government has called extensive eavesdropping by the U.S. Government, revealed by Wikileaks, on the private conversations of senior French leaders “unacceptable,” The New York Times reports. French President Francois Hollande called an emergency meeting of the Defense Council on Wednesday to discuss revelations published by French news website Mediapart and newspaper Liberation about U.S. National Security Agency surveillance. Meanwhile, newly unsealed court documents indicate the Obama administration fought a legal battle against Google “to secretly obtain” the email records of a security researcher associated with Wikileaks.
