Thomas Kremer, a board member of data privacy, legal affairs and compliance with Deutsche Telekom, discussed digitization and data protection with former German Federal Data Protection Commissioner Peter Schaar. Among the topics covered included who should be responsible for data protection during the digitization process, and whether people should be afraid of digitization. “Fear is a poor basis for coping with change or the unknown — but naiveness will not help much either. The most important thing, in my opinion, is for people to come to grips with digitization and not pretend or believe that it is insignificant,” said Schaar. “Digitization is a challenge for each and every one of us. It's not only a challenge for individuals, but also for every business enterprise and society as a whole.”
