MediaPost reports U.S. Sen. Ron Wyden, D-Ore., has called on wireless carriers to minimize the data they retain about their customers. Wyden wrote a letter to AT&T, Sprint, T-Mobile and Verizon asking for limited data collection on various types of personal records, including browsing history, app use and geolocation. “Your companies collectively hold deeply-sensitive information about hundreds of millions of Americans,” Wyden wrote. “It should come as no surprise that this data is a juicy target for foreign spies. Particularly in this modern era of massive data breaches, it is critical that companies like yours minimize the data you keep.”
