The Wall Street Journal reports a group of cybersecurity experts has discovered ties between "an American hacker who maintains a neo-Nazi website" and an online campaign aiming to harm the odds of Emmanuel Macron being elected president of France. An anonymous user of a discussion forum was posting fake documents alleging Macron had established a shell company in the Caribbean and then sent users to a site updating them on the French election. The hacker, Andrew Auernheimer, who uses online alias "Weevlos," owns the site. The site is also hosted in Latvia by a neo-Nazi news site, its administrator identified as "Weev," which Auernheimer also uses as an alias. (Registration may be required to access this story.)
