The U.K Information Commissioner's Office has announced that it will increase its team by 40 percent, ultimately hiring around 200 lawyers, analysts, investigators, and others as the agency prepares to enforce compliance with the forthcoming EU General Data Protection Regulation, The Telegraph reports. The GDPR will vastly expand the ICO's enforcement powers, meaning it will need a larger team to handle the swath of the office's new duties, said Information Commissioner Elizabeth Denham. During a speech at the House of Lords, Denham also argued that while the ICO required more hands, it also needed a data-sharing agreement with the EU as a way to protect the steady stream of data once Brexit formally occurs, the report states.
