"It's a corporation trying to justify practices that are one step too far," RMIT University’s Mark Gregory said. Taxi companies, which have long viewed Uber as a nemesis, also expressed frustration. “People should be concerned by this; I think people should be concerned by Uber's actions more generally in the Australian market," said Victorian Taxi Association’s David Samuel. Uber has said the company “cares deeply about the privacy of riders and drivers. It's why we're always looking at ways to improve practices.”
