Bleeping Computer reports a review of 40 digital COVID-19 "vaccine passport" applications found approximately two-thirds may be putting users’ privacy at risk. Symantec’s report notes many apps generate unencrypted QR codes, vulnerable transmission of health data from cloud-storage devices and concerns over external storage access permissions on Android devices. The report recommends users avoid unknown vendors and pay attention to an app’s requested permissions.
