The Washington Post reports on studies highlighting potential privacy issues with contact-tracing apps. One study conducted by the International Digital Accountability Council found eight contact-tracing apps share user data with third parties without explicit consent. The IDAC identified three U.S.-based apps that sent Android data for the purpose of targeted advertising. In its own research, cybersecurity company GuardSquare discovered one-third of Android contact-tracing apps had basic encryption.
