Re/Code reports Sony Pictures Entertainment is trying to fight back against a massive breach and leak of its sensitive information by using denial-of-service attacks on websites where the stolen data is hosted, while Amazon has denied Sony used its web services in the alleged counter-attack. Such a move could pose legal problems, one expert notes. Tripwire's Tim Erlin said, "Taking the step to 'hack back' against perceived legitimate targets, based on their own assessment of guilt, presents a myriad of potential legal problems." Meanwhile, Times-Colonist reports BC’s Office of the Privacy Commissioner is investigating “privacy breaches involving sensitive medical information sent to an incorrect fax number provided by a Victoria medical imaging office.”
