Social Security numbers of thousands of applicants seeking student debt relief were left exposed by the U.S. Department of Education for at least six months, The Washington Post reports. A spokeswoman said there is no indication the data was accessed outside the department or that it was handled improperly. Meanwhile, security researchers said a database belonging to e-learning platform One Class exposed the personal information of more than 1 million students, Maine State Police are investigating a data breach, and data breaches in eight U.S. cities have been attributed to Magecart hackers.
