ZDNet reports Silent Circle has raised $50 million to revamp its Enterprise Privacy Platform. The company’s EPP is equivalent to its surveillance-blocking technology for handsets and smartphone apps. The EPP is a collection of applications, services and designs companies can use to improve the security and privacy of their networks, including making sure mobile devices are controlled and secured to prevent data leaks, while filtering malicious emails used for phishing attacks. "Ensuring privacy in an increasingly mobile world is something every organization is wrestling with," said Silent Circle Interim CEO and General Counsel Matt Neiderman. "That's why our solution is built from the ground up for the mobile world." In other news, a $1.2 billion deal to acquire Opera has been terminated, with the browser company renegotiating a new $600 million deal for specific parts of the company.
