Six U.S. senators led by Sen. Ron Wyden, D-Ore., penned a letter to eight Big Tech companies seeking answers about the potential sale of Americans' data to foreign-owned companies via real-time bidding. The letter, addressed to AT&T, Index Exchange, Google, Magnite, OpenX, PubMatic, Twitter and Verizon, explained how "few Americans realize that some auction participants are siphoning off and storing ‘bidstream’ data to compile exhaustive dossiers about them" via the RTB scheme. The lawmakers asked for information regarding the companies' ties to past and ongoing auctions.
