Members of Waterfront Toronto’s Digital Strategy Advisory Panel have raised privacy and data concerns with the Sidewalk Labs development plan for Toronto’s waterfront, the Financial Post reports. Citing concerns the plan lacks specific detail regarding technology and what information has been provided, “ambitions are either misguided, or cause for privacy concerns,” according to the report. The report also raises concerns that the proposed “new regulatory body [that] would oversee all data collected in public spaces ... would supersede the City of Toronto’s authority.” Sidewalk Labs has until Oct. 31 to address issues.
