Privacy advocates are raising concerns that a nonbinding opinion issued by the Advocate General of the Court of Justice of the European Union would reduce compensation for data protection breaches and limit individuals’ ability to enforce privacy rights under the EU General Data Protection Regulation, Euractiv reports. NGO NOYB founder and Chairman Max Schrems called the opinion “deeply troubling” and said, “most users will never see compensation for GDPR violations anymore.”
