AT&T, Sprint, T-Mobile and Verizon are beginning a preliminary rollout of a new program to authenticate identification via an individual's smartphone, The Verge reports. ZenKey aims to allow identity verification using a phone rather than separate passwords for each app, while also giving users some control over the personal data they share. After downloading a carrier-specific version of the ZenKey app, users will be required to add a PIN or biometric authentication to prove identity. Those credentials will then apply to apps that support ZenKey logins, which boast a verified one-click entry.
