The Philippines will begin a “proof of concept” for the circulation of national identification cards, known as the Philippine Identification System, IDG Connect reports. National Statistician and Philippine Statistics Authority Undersecretary Lisa Grace Bersales added that the POC is expected to be ready by the end of 2018 and will last for approximately six months. While she did not mention the use of blockchain, some have speculated the country will adopt the technology for implementation. The system will be implemented through an agency-to-agency agreement implemented by the Philippine Postal Corporation.
