The Manila Bulletin reports the Philippines National Privacy Commission has ordered 26 online lenders to cease operations while the commission explores allegations of public shaming against borrowers. The order stems from the app providers forgoing a call to appear before the commission to answer for alleged complaints. The NPC said the lenders are a "continuing threat to the rights and freedoms of data subjects" and that it "deems it necessary to impose a ban on the processing of personal data until the final resolution of the cases."
