The European Data Protection Board adopted the first version of its guidelines on processing personal data in the context of connected vehicles and mobility-related applications and is now reviewing feedback before adopting the final version. In this Privacy Perspectives piece, Bill Karazsia, CIPP/E, CIPP/US, and Rosa Barcelo outline the scope of the guidelines and potential unintended effects. “Industry and consumers, or even anyone passionate about driving or privacy, should follow with interest the journey these guidelines will take,” they write.
