The Future of Privacy Forum reports it is one of 40 organizations co-signing a list of 10 principles for school safety, privacy and equity that will guide lawmakers and school officials as they tackle student safety issues. Among the outlined privacy principles is the proper use of surveillance and the data it produces. According to the list, "School administrators must ensure that the data collected is not misused and ensure compliance with all applicable privacy laws." The surveillance principle goes on to call for clear policies regarding data collection and sharing.
