In an op-ed for Slate, Georgetown Law Center on Privacy & Technology Founding Director Alvaro Bedoya writes this is a “new era of immigrant surveillance.” Bedoya points to U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement’s increasing use of data to identify people for deportation, particularly Palantir Technologies’ case management software, data analysis and visualization software, and mobile application. “ICE has transformed from an agency that tracks some people sometimes to an agency that can track anyone at any time,” Bedoya writes.
