Protection against internet of things manipulating can only come from government agencies taking a hard legislative stance, Bruce Schneier writes in an op-ed for Motherboard. Security solutions aren’t a silver bullet, he writes. “This is not something that the market can solve. Like data privacy, the risks and solutions are too technical for most people and organizations to understand … and the interests of the companies often don’t match the interests of the people.” The government needs to fill in the gaps, “setting standards, policing compliance, and implementing solutions across companies and networks,” he adds.
