As the number of Americans who value their privacy over national security protections has grown since the Snowden revelations, Congress must find better ways to address citizens' concerns on the matter by championing some topical causes, Robyn Greene writes in an op-ed for The Hill. Her suggestions include reforming section 702 of the FISA Amendments Act; supporting the bipartisan Protecting Data at the Border Act; passing the Email Privacy Act, and putting an end to the encryption back-and-forth by advocating against the FBI-supported backdoor proposal, she writes. "Rarely is Congress’ path forward on a legislative agenda so clearly laid out, but this is one of those times," she continues. "This is a four-point plan that will give constituents nationwide what they [have] been asking for more and more each year: stronger privacy protections from government."
