A new Ontario rule effective Sept. 23 that requires businesses to verify the vaccination status of patrons each visit is creating uncertainty, the Toronto Star reports. The law does not clarify if membership-based businesses are breaking the law by checking certificates only once, though it explicitly forbids them from keeping records of vaccination status. However, IAPP Canada Managing Director and nNovation Partner Kris Klein, CIPP/C, CIPM, FIP, said if businesses retain only a "check mark" instead of actual vaccination certificates, they will likely be compliant.
