Advocacy group Open Media has launched an online tool designed to inform users about what data of theirs has been collected by political parties, CityNews Winnipeg reports. Users can ask each political party about what information has been gathered on them through the My Political Data tool. Open Media Executive Director Laura Tribe said she hopes the tool sends a message to the parties, even if they ultimately do not fulfill the requests. CBC News also reports on the continued arguments made to have political parties covered by federal privacy laws. Meanwhile, CBC News reports an emergency alert app available within the Halifax Regional Municipality has raised privacy concerns about what information it is able to access.
