The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services' Office for Civil Rights announced a $65,000 fine and corrective actions against the University of Cincinnati Medical Center related to Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act violations. The health provider did not respond to a patient's 2019 data access request in a timely manner, according to HIPAA access rules. As part of its corrective measures, UCMC will undergo two years of monitoring.
