The Office of the Australian Information Commissioner has dealt with 19,092 privacy inquiries in the past financial year, handling 97 percent of the 2,128 complaints in the bunch, Technology Decisions reports. The total number of privacy inquiries raised 18 percent since the previous year, the report states. The agency further received 510 Freedom of Information requests, completing 87 percent. "This reflects our approach to work with government agencies, to build the knowledge and approaches required to resolve FOI requests efficiently and, where a dispute arises, to attempt to reach a mutually satisfactory agreement without the need for a formal decision,” said Australian Information Commissioner Timothy Pilgrim.
