The Office of the Australian Information Commissioner advised employers to handle personal data in accordance with the Privacy Act 1988, even in a global pandemic, ZDNet reports. The OAIC advised limiting “the collection, use, and disclosure of personal information to what is necessary to prevent and manage COVID-19, and take reasonable steps to keep personal information secure.” Employers should know if an individual has been exposed to the virus or traveled overseas and where.
