According to senior party officials, the House GOP campaign arm suffered a data breach during the 2018 midterm campaign, Politico reports. The breach resulted in unauthorized access to thousands of sensitive emails as four senior aides at the National Republican Congressional Committee were surveilled. After managed security services provider MSSP discovered the breach, the NRCC notified its cybersecurity firm, launched an internal investigation, and alerted the FBI. The report states several top-ranking House Republicans were not informed of the attack. Party officials state that none of the emails accessed in the hack have appeared in public.
