Can you feel it in the air? I think it’s safe to say that summer is winding down. Back to school ads are being placed on websites at an alarming rate, which always makes me wonder whether it's part of a behavourial tracking campaign or if everyone is getting these. The volume of work is picking up, issues seem to be more pressing and deadlines that seemed so far away are fast approaching or, heck, they're here.

I’m not sure what your fall is shaping up to be, but if I were to guess, I’d predict that you’re going to be busy. It seems to me that organizations and governments alike are really starting to understand the importance and significance of getting privacy right. And this makes the job of the privacy professional all the more important.

What’s on your plate? Are you being tasked with more and more responsibilities than ever before?

When planning your fall, make sure you consider these two top-notch events. First is the IAPP P.S.R. conference in Las Vegas. It’s going to be a huge conference bringing together the security and privacy fields in an unprecedented way. Plus, it’s in Vegas!

Second is the Future of Privacy conference being hosted by the Commissioner’s office in British Columbia. While probably a bit smaller in terms of the number of people attending, it will undoubtedly be packed with a lot of great learning opportunities. Yours truly will be there a few days in advance of the conference to provide training for those wishing to get their CIPP/C. If getting that designation is on your to-do list, maybe I’ll see you there.
