Chris Boyer, assistant vice president of global public policy at AT&T Services, has been named the new chairman of the National Institute of Standards and Technology’s Information Security and Privacy Advisory Board, FCW Insider reports. Boyer brings with him experience developing AT&T’s cybersecurity policy, while also crafting and sponsoring the company’s regulatory and legislative guidelines. He also has experience on the National Security Telecommunications Advisory Council and the Communications Sector Coordinating Council within the Department of Homeland Security. Boyer, a member of the ISPAB since 2012, is replacing Google computer scientist Peter Weinberger as chairman. Boyer will be heading the ISPAB as it continues to advise NIST in addressing security and privacy issues regarding government information systems.
