Waldo, a free app hitting iPhones in the spring, utilizes a selfie and location data to find other pictures of the user that have been uploaded to the service, MIT Technology Review reports. It primarily scours public events, like concerts, for pictures of users, alerting them when it finds their photo elsewhere. The technology has already garnered comparisons to Facebook’s Moments app. However, Waldo CEO Rodney Rice maintains that the app is aimed toward simplifying a user’s social media experience. “We’re going to make it really painless to get those so you’re not constantly nagging and saying, ‘Hey, will you text me that photo from that party the other night?’” Rice said.
